The Women's Auxiliary is a non-profit organization established in 1962 by leaders in our community with a mission to render efficient and effective service to all units of Children's Medical Center. Our members have been dedicated ambassadors of Children's for almost 50 years and have supported Children's in its goal to make life better for children. This year we are pleased to announce the launch of the Legacy chapter for the Women's Auxiliary. The chapter was formed to help meet the needs of Children's Medical Center at Legacy, which officially opened its doors in September of 2008.
To date, the Women's Auxiliary has gifted more than $15 million to Children's.
The Women's Auxiliary carries out its mission by raising funds to support critical care and other high needs areas of the hospital through several annual fundraising projects and events. Our members are philanthropic leaders who host fundraising events and projects that have become wonderful Dallas traditions. Some of these include Breakfast with Santa, hosted in conjunction with the Children's Medical Center Holiday Parade presented by Capital One Bank; The Children's Medical Center Children's Corner Gift Shop; American Girl store "Sundaes on Sunday"; and Family Night at Six Flags.
In its inaugural year, the Legacy chapter of the Auxiliary is hosting several fundraisers. Join the Legacy chapter on October 9 for the inaugural Red Balloon Run & Relay benefiting Children's. The Auxiliary will host a Family Picnic. The Legacy chapter will also be partnering with the Shops at Legacy to raise funds at the annual tree lighting in November. Stay tuned for more to follow on a Spring event.

The Women's Auxiliary also carries out its mission by providing support for hospital staff and for families whose children are in the hospital through several projects such as the holiday tradition of Deck the Hospital Halls, providing New Year's Eve and Mother's Day weekend dinners to patients and staff, and providing Staff Appreciation meals and treats throughout the year. This year the Legacy chapter begins a new tradition of hosting a holiday meal in November and a Mother's Day lunch in May. Through a new program called Caring Hearts, members who have a child in the hospital are comforted by the support of the Auxiliary.
The Women's Auxiliary hosts programs throughout the year for its members, offering education about current pediatric health issues. Membership meetings provide Auxiliary members with news from Children's as well as current information about Auxiliary activities. More than 1,000 members strong, the Auxiliary membership serves as informed ambassadors in the community representing Children's Medical Center. Many members are encouraged to share their own personal stories and appreciation for the exceptional quality care and service they have received as patient families.
Membership does make a difference! Membership dues are a critical part of the Auxiliary's operations. Membership is open to all women dedicated to supporting the Auxiliary's mission of helping Children's Medical Center make life better for children. Annual membership dues are $50 at the Friend Level and $100 at the Patron Level with the fiscal year beginning July 1. Lifetime memberships are offered for a one time only payment of $500. Members receive a spiral bound directory containing important Auxiliary and hospital information.
