Dr. Robert Dimeff, professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics & Family Medicine and director of Primary Care Sports Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas will speak on the topic.

 

 

Following the session, attendees should be able to:

  • Define and describe the common symptoms of concussion.
  • Perform an appropriate sideline evaluation of an adolescent athlete with a suspected concussion and determine need for further evaluation.
  • Recognize the importance of and limitation of balance and neuropsychological testing in the evaluation of an adolescent athlete with a suspected concussion.
  • Describe the components of the SCAT 2-Sports Concussion Assessment Tool 2
  • Identify the current recommended graduated return to play protocol for a concussed athlete.

Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., and the lecture begins at 6 p.m.
