The site includes interactive content designed to be a complete resource on children’s health-related issues. “We recognize that it is often difficult for parents to sort through the massive amount of medical information on the Internet and determine what is accurate and reliable. Our goal is to establish ourselves as the premier provider of pediatric healthcare and information in North Texas,” says Betsy MacKay, vice president of public affairs at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. The Children’s Web site focuses on information in a format that is easy to use and understand. Topics include: General pediatric care Adolescent care Terminal illness Safety Newborn health Surgery Cancer Burns Heart diseases and defects Growth disorders Mental health Orthopedics Dental and oral health Organ transplants Statistics, diagnostic tests and procedures, treatments, illustrations and a glossary are included for each topic. “We are excited to take the wealth of information and experience that is physically available at Children’s Medical Center and provide it electronically to parents and children,” MacKay says.
